Raglan Street House II
Architect: Corben Architects
The Project: An extensive renovation of a Federation house in Mosman, designed to take advantage of spectacular views.
The original house had dramatic views but no easy access to outdoor entertaining areas to take full advantage.
The foyer, sitting room and front bedroom were retained as traditional rooms, connecting the old to the new. A major renovation added a new kitchen and open-plan living/dining area with contemporary fittings and extensive use of glass. A large covered deck was added, accessible by expansive glass sliding doors and extending the living areas outside to take advantage of the enviable position.
The top story was demolished and rezoned to create three bright and airy attic-style bedrooms. On the lower level, additional excavation created a new bathroom, laundry, kitchenette and cellar.
The finished renovation included some unique design features, including a glass display cellar in the rumpus room and an outdoor spa in the lower terrace.
